Case Study: Advanced Hydraulic Power Unit for a Leading UK Waste Management Provider

Project Overview

Over the past few months, our projects and engineering team have been collaborating on a new solution for one of the UK’s largest waste management service providers.

The client required a high-performance hydraulic power unit (HPU) to integrate into their waste compacting process.

This HPU plays a critical role in the system by driving a bogie cylinder that precisely positions a container ready for it to be filled with waste. Once aligned, clamps secure the container while waste is directed through a chute, ready for compaction.

How It Works

Once the container is secured, the main hydraulic cylinder operates in a continuous forward and backward motion, compacting waste into the container. Upon completing a full cycle, the clamps are released, and the bogie cylinder transports the container to the unload area. Each cycle compacts a colossal 11 to 13 tonnes of waste into the container, demonstrating the system’s immense efficiency and power.

For this project, we not only managed the design and build phases but also oversaw the testing and installation process to ensure every detail met our high standards.
