This Roemheld quick-disconnect coupling is a coupling of sturdy design which locks automatically after uncoupling. The coupling and uncoupling process can be effected when both coupling parts are depressurized. The displacement of the sleeve to the corresponding coupling or uncoupling direction enables an easy one-hand operation.

This coupling unit is used if the clamping fixture is manually separated from the pressure generator, e.g. in flexible manufacturing systems or when using one pressure generator only for several clamping fixtures. It can be supplied with two different accumulators: Size 1 for clamping fixtures with a big oil volume. Size 2 for clamping fixtures with a small oil volume.

Standard automatic coupling systems for single and double-acting elements are available. Each coupling system consists of a coupling unit and the corresponding coupling nipple unit. According to the application several components can be added to the coupling system that meet different safety requirements. The automatic coupling systems allow coupling against system pressure up to a max. operating pressure of 500 bar.

Compared to other coupling elements the threaded coupling elements are very compact devices. lf the slide movement of the workpiece carrier is to be used or if a fixture is to be connected to the base plate without lines, the threaded nipple and the coupling mechanisms can be directly screwed into the parts which are to be connected. The coupling mechanisms have the advantage that they are flush-faced in uncoupled mode.

These automatically closing couplings have a flat surface and do not have protruding elements for sealing. Therefore exact positioning is not required and a radial positioning misalignment of up to 2 mm is admitted. Cleaning of the coupling surfaces is easily possible due to the flat surfaces. Because of the omitted active axial coupling stroke completely new solutions for the coupling motion can be realised.

The multi-coupling is a modification of the threaded coupling elements as per data sheet F 9.430. It comprises of two components, the nipple carrier and the coupling carrier. The advantage of the coupling carrier is the fact that its face is flush in uncoupled condition, thereby it can be easily cleaned by means of the integrated blast air system.
