ROEMHELD B1.4301 Threaded-Body Cylinders

These hydraulic cylinders are threaded directly into tapped holes of a clamping fixture. These are a compact solution and can be used to great advantage in fixtures where space is at a premium. Hydraulic fluid is supplied through passageways drilled into the fixture body, this reducing the use of hydraulic pipework, fittings and hoses. The built-in spring returns the piston when hydraulic pressure is released.

These threaded-body cylinders can be threaded directly into tapped holes in the fixture down to the hex-section of the cylinder body. Spacings between cylinders can be minimised when cylinders are arranged in a row, since the oil is fed through drilled passages in the fixture.

Threaded-body cylinders are suitable for clamping of smaller workpieces in clamping fixtures. Sealing is made with the sealing ring supplied on a machined surface in a M12x1.5mm hole on the fixture. Multiple can be installed on a pitch as small as 15mm. Where the supplied sealing ring cannot be used, sealing nuts 3300-406 are available for sealing on the machined surface of the fixture as opposed to inside the threaded hole. Other mounting options included a connecting housing 3467-064 and hexagonal nuts 3300-408.

These threaded-body cylinders allow direct tube or hose connection. Due to elimination of the pipe union a particularly compact assembly results. Depending on wall strength and fixing method (thread or bore) a certain adjustment is possible. The cylinders can also be screwed into threaded bores. Sealing is then effected by the sealing nut available as accessory. By adjustment, workpiece tolerances of more than 20 mm can be absorbed.

These short threaded-body cylinders are particularly suitable for recessed installation in clamping bars (see datasheet). Oil supply is made through drilled channels. The plunger construction combined with the wiper avoids penetration of contamination and liquids into the spring area.

This design allows the use of swing clamps even in restricted places. The threaded-body swing clamp can be sunk directly into the fixture up to the hexagon. Oil feed through two holes, allowing for 3 fitting and hose connections (see below for options).

Hydraulic swing clamps are used for clamping of workpieces when it is essential to keep the clamping area free of straps and clamping components for unrestricted workpiece loading and unloading.

The threaded-body universal cylinders are delivered with the same piston diameters and strokes as the well-proven block cylinders. Hydraulic connection is exclusively effected at the cylinder bottom by hydraulic tubes or hoses. Sealing of the case-hardened piston rod is made by a tandem sealing with minimum leakage and a wiper.

The support plunger is hydraulically extended and retracted by means of a small double-acting cylinder. Contact to the workpiece is made by spring force. The pressure can be easily exchanged. Locking of the support plunger through the slotted clamping sleeve is made by means of a ringshaped conical hydraulic piston where the locking force is transmitted by a low-friction ball shell. Unlocking of the support plunger is made by spring force.
